As you may have guessed, I am that young, sophisticated, and handsome fellow sitting on the left. You can learn more about me on my About page. (Did you catch that - "about me" on my "About page"? As you can see, I have a way with words.) You can also leave a comment on my blog if you desire. However, I must ask that everyone please refrain from filling up my blog space with needless comments about how great my beard looks. I already know it looks awesome.
As you also may have guessed, I have written a novel now. It is my first one, and I am hoping to make my indelible mark in this highly competitive field. The book is called Exceptional Crimes, and it is a hybrid science fiction/crime thriller. Added note dated 08/19/24 - this novel is currently undergoing an update and is unavailable for purchase, but it is expected to be available again soon.
Assuming this will not be my one and only novel, I plan to write in a wide variety of genres. I choose to focus more on my brand name than by associating myself with any one particular genre. (And yes, I know that is not the recommended strategy for an unknown, debut novelist, and those of you who are marketing specialists are probably already picking up a shovel to start digging my figurative grave.) But with that being said, I do have a strong preference for the horror, science fiction, and crime thriller genres, and most of my future works will probably reflect that. Besides, let's face it; most readers would be a lot more interested in hearing about people running for their lives from a T-Rex or a cannibalistic psycho than some guy eating breakfast and then driving to work - well, unless he is a particularly terrible driver.
My book is mainly plot oriented and includes plenty of action. I have tried to place you on an intellectual and emotional roller coaster that doesn't let up until the very end. However, I have also given a lot of attention to character development. I wanted you to know them inside out - how they look, how they think, what motivates them, and what makes them afraid. My goal was to design something that would make you feel a variety of emotions, including laughter. I have tried to do all this by using action-based dialogue, highly descriptive and graphic detail, and vivid imagery to appeal to all your senses. I wanted you to feel right there, to experience first-hand what is happening through the eyes of the characters. I have even used specialized formatting to enhance the intended emotional impact of individual chapters and pages, which is even more noticeable in the print versions.
So how good is Exceptional Crimes? Well, that will ultimately be up to you to decide. The one thing I will say is that I don't think it is an ordinary, run-of-the-mill novel. My guess is that you will either love it or hate it and that there won't be many of you who have no opinion about it. I also believe there will be much more of you who love it than those who hate it.
If you choose to read it, I think you will see what I mean.
My debut novel: exceptional Crimes
Exceptional Crimes is a book that fits in both the science fiction and the crime thriller genres. It is one of those rare books that does this seamlessly. The setting is in and around Memphis, Tennessee, starting in the early 1980s and continuing into the mid 1990s.
It is basically the story about how to stop what could soon become the most prolific serial killer in world history. This super intelligent individual is killing virtually at will and is so elusive that even the brightest minds and the most advanced technology may not be enough to end the killing.
So the question eventually becomes: If ordinary measures do not seem to be working, what do you do next?
Exceptional Crimes is a slow moving yet paradoxically energy packed novel. While reading it, you will go from one emotion to another, and time seems to take on a weird, surreal quality. During this journey, you will be asked to address some of the most complex issues such as how does one even define the word "human."
I designed this book to appeal to nearly every kind of reader. If you are primarily interested in suspense, it is packed full of it. If you want to be horrified and shocked, you probably will be. If you like humor, it has that too. It even contains a romance if that is what you are looking for. I can honestly say that I spent years painstakingly researching, writing, researching some more, rewriting, editing, and formatting in an all-out attempt to produce something that is utterly unforgettable. But as I said, how good it is will be ultimately be up to you to decide.
